Join the Masters

There isn't one right reason to become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator!

I joined because I liked the products, loved the color coordination, and knew I was going to keep buying them.

And, well...

Who doesn't like a discount? 😂

That really was part of my reason for joining.

What I didn't know then was how much my reason for staying would grow beyond the products.

Join for the Craft. Stay for the People.

I met people.

I found communities of crafters who were willing to share what they knew, answer questions, exchange ideas, celebrate each other's accomplishments, and help one another figure things out.

I attended events and met demonstrators I probably never would have met otherwise. Some of those people became friends I still cherish years later.

I discovered how much I enjoy teaching something I've learned and watching someone have that “I did it!” lightbulb moment.

I learned how much I enjoy leading, too—not because I need everyone to do things my way, but because I genuinely enjoy helping people figure out what their way might be.

And somewhere along the way, what began as a way to save money on products I already loved started becoming a business.

That was my path.

It doesn't have to be yours.

What Do YOU Want From Your Demonstratorship?

That's one of the most important questions I can ask someone who is considering becoming a demonstrator.

Maybe you want the demonstrator pricing.

That's enough.

Maybe you want access to the demonstrator community and opportunities to learn and create.

That's enough, too.

Maybe you'd like to earn some supplemental income.

Maybe you want to teach.

Maybe you eventually want to build a business and lead a team of your own.

Or maybe you genuinely don't know yet.

You don't have to.

Becoming a demonstrator doesn't obligate you to teach classes, find customers, build a team, or turn your hobby into a business.

If you join my team because you want to enjoy the products at demonstrator pricing, you're on my team.

You don't have to become a business builder to belong.

And if your goals change later, we can talk about that then.

Who You Join With Matters, Too

I used to think this part of the decision was pretty simple: if someone introduced you to Stampin' Up!, generally, that's the person you should join with.

I still think there's a lot of truth in that.

But I've learned something else along the way.

Before you join, think about what you want from your demonstratorship—and what you might want from it someday.

Then talk with the person you're considering joining with.

If you're perfectly happy enjoying the demonstrator benefits and have no interest in building a business, the support you're looking for may be very different than that of someone who might eventually want customers, income, or a team of their own.

Neither goal is better.

They're simply different.

Ask questions.

What kind of support will be available to you? What happens if your goals change? If you eventually decide you want to build a business, is that something your Team Leader is interested in and prepared to help you learn?

You don't need to know exactly where your demonstratorship will take you before you begin.

But who you join with is part of the decision—not just whether you join.

Join for Your Reason

If there's one thing I hope you take from all of this, it's that you don't need to borrow my reason for being a demonstrator.

My story began with products and a discount.

Then came the people.

Then teaching.

Then leadership.

Then I discovered a business I genuinely wanted to build.

And I'm still figuring out where that business will eventually take me.

Your story may stop happily at the discount.

Or it may take you somewhere you haven't even considered yet.

Join for your reason. Be part of the team. Decide what you want your demonstratorship to become.

That's the kind of team I want Stamp Crafting Masters to be.
