Trusting God in the Moment Before Us

The moments that teach us the most about faith don’t always unfold the way we imagined. Sometimes we learn only by trusting God in the moment that is before us.

As I prepared for our October Sip, Stamp, Connect gathering, I was questioning whether I had made the right decision to move forward with such a small group.

I had plans. I had expectations. And, like most of us, I had an idea of how I wanted the evening to go.

But things weren’t going quite as planned.

I prayed about my decision. And when the evening brought its own challenges, I prayed again—not for everything to suddenly become perfect, but for the strength to see it through and make the most of what was right in front of me.

And somewhere along the way, my perspective shifted.

Being Present Changes What We See

Instead of thinking about how the evening might have been different, I began focusing on the people who were actually there.

Two newer friends chose to spend their evening creating with me. We weren’t strangers meeting for the first time. We had already met and were getting to know one another. This was another opportunity to continue building those relationships.

We made cards. We talked. We shared a little more of ourselves.

As the evening unfolded, I found that I could be myself and give my full attention to the people sitting with me.

There was no need to make the gathering into something bigger than it was.

There was simply an opportunity to be present.

Trust Doesn’t Require Knowing the Outcome

Sometimes we become so focused on what we hope will happen that we overlook what is happening.

We measure experiences against our plans, our expectations, or even our ideas of what success should look like.

But faith asks us to do something different.

Trusting God doesn’t mean knowing how everything will turn out. It doesn’t mean every decision will be easy or every plan will unfold smoothly.

Sometimes, trusting God means acknowledging our uncertainty, asking Him for guidance and strength, and then being willing to embrace the moment before us.

Not because we know what it will produce.

But because we trust the One who walks with us through it.

The Relationships We Make Room For

One of the things I treasure most about Stamp Crafting Masters is the opportunity to build relationships through creativity.

The cards we create give us a reason to gather, but the relationships we nurture give those gatherings their deeper meaning.

That evening, I was reminded that meaningful connections don’t depend on how many people are around the table.

Relationships grow when we make room for one another—when we listen, encourage, share, and give people our attention.

And perhaps that begins with making room for God in our own hearts, trusting Him enough to release our expectations and recognize the opportunities already before us.

I don’t know what these relationships will become over time. But I’m thankful for another evening spent nurturing them.

A Faithful Moment to Remember

When I look back on our October Sip, Stamp, Connect, I won’t remember it primarily for the number of people who attended or whether everything went according to plan.

I’ll remember the uncertainty, the prayers, and the reminder that I didn’t need to know how the evening would unfold.

I only needed to trust God and be present.

We don’t have to know how a moment will unfold to trust God enough to be fully present.

Is there a moment in your life when letting go of your expectations helped you recognize something meaningful right in front of you?
